Meskel Square
መስቀል አደባባይ
Addis Ababa's most important public space, rebuilt in 2021 with terraced steps, underground parking and space for half a million people. It hosts the UNESCO-listed Meskel (Finding of the True Cross) celebrations every September, big concerts, and early-morning joggers training on the steps.
☀️ Local tip
Visit at dawn to watch hundreds of runners train on the terraces — or come on Meskel eve (late September) for the Demera bonfire spectacle.
