Holy Trinity Cathedral

This ornate 1940s cathedral, built to celebrate liberation from Italian occupation, holds the granite tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen, stunning stained glass, and memorials to patriots of the resistance. The adjacent museum and churchyard full of notable graves (including suffragette Sylvia Pankhurst) reward a slow visit.

Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered); a licensed guide at the gate brings the tombs and stained glass to life for a small fee.
