Wenchi Crater Lake

Inside an extinct volcano between Ambo and Weliso, Wenchi is arguably the most beautiful day trip from Addis: a deep-green crater lake ringed by farms, with the island monastery of Cherkos reached by boat, plus waterfalls and hot springs on the crater floor. Descend on foot or by local horse with community guides.
