Mount Yerer
የረር ተራራ
Rising between Addis and Bishoftu, Yerer is a classic half-to-full-day hike up an extinct volcano, through farmland and acacia to a rocky summit (~3,100m) with sweeping views toward the capital and the Rift Valley lakes. There's a small rock-hewn hermitage near the top and rich raptor birdlife.
☀️ Local tip
Go with a guide or hiking group (Addis has several weekend hiking clubs) — trailheads are unsigned. Start early to beat clouds and afternoon heat.
