Great Ethiopian Run

Founded by Haile Gebrselassie in 2001, the Great Ethiopian Run turns central Addis into a singing, dancing river of tens of thousands of green-and-yellow-shirted runners every late November. International entries are welcome, and jogging (or dancing) the 10km through cheering crowds is one of the great participatory experiences in African sport.
☀️ Local tip
Register online months ahead via the international entry package; walk-joggers are plentiful, so don't fear the altitude — just start slow.
